Role overview

Here at Retail Insight, we are excited to be growing our Engineering function and evolving our ways of working. We have squads that own and continuously improve our products, as well as experts who integrate our products with new clients, alongside this we have client focused teams providing professional services and innovating bespoke solutions for a handful of clients. As part of our growth, we are introducing this role to direct and coordinate all aspects of project management across squads.

Working cross-functionally, collaborating with Engineers, Sales, Delivery, Operations and Analytics teams you will deliver and improve products and projects. Working closely with the technical leads in each squad, you will provide reporting and foresight of what is happening now and, in the future, to ensure clarity on progress of deliverables and the matching of squad resource to forthcoming demand. You will balance the needs of Engineering with other stakeholders ensuring that technical objectives are met and that projects are delivered for new and existing clients.

In this role, you’ll get to

  • Plan, lead, organise and motivate a number of agile squads
  • Maintain visible scheduling and participate in planning and prioritisation sessions to ensure that resources are appropriately assigned and resource capacity matches demand
  • Implement and ensure compliance to processes for planning and implementing work
  • Develop measurement systems within the teams in line with technology strategy
  • Ensure squads have capability to undertake backlog management, sprint planning, task tracking and estimations. Where a squad requires it you will perform these duties
     
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure an Owner (Product Owner , Client Director etc) is in place and empowered to prioritise the backlog for each squad. Where missing, act as conduit between squad and stakeholders, assume accountability for prioritisation
  • Grow the function, defining the reporting and process and justifying any expansion through the outcomes delivered
  • Work with Engineering, Sales and Delivery to mediate prioritisation of work across all squads
  • Work with change management and incident management systems

We are looking for people who have

  • 3-5 yrs project management experience in a software development environment
  • Experience working within a Scrum or KANBAN team
  • Hands-on experience of delivering end-to-end projects through the project life cycle
  • Experience working with stakeholders to review and document requirements
  • Experience working with team members to scope and estimate project tasks in Scrum
  • Confident communication skills
  • An ability to learn complicated technical systems quickly
  • Flexibility to be able to manage some cross time zone calls
  • Good experience using Agile PM tools, such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience as a Scrum Master
  • Experience defining and implementing process change
  • Experience using change management and incident management tools
  • Previous experience working with managing globally distributed teams
  • Experience in Retail and/or CPG
  • Rudimentary knowledge of databases and software systems
