Sales Director - Retail

Role overview

You will be responsible for selling our solutions into leading grocery and convenience retailers based in North America. Our success in the US, with lighthouse accounts such as Walmart in the grocery sector and Pilot Flying J in convenience, is a great foundation to continue our momentum into other retailers.

You would join our current US based team of around 20 employees across our Client Delivery and Insight Analytics functions. Retail Insight has ambitious growth plans in the years ahead and you will play a key role in helping us to achieve our targets.

In this role, you’ll get to

  • Achieve sales targets for the fiscal year, comprised primarily from annual subscription to our software products.
  • Understand, learn and deliver our proposition, solutions, customer cases and ROI tools to develop value for each retailer.
  • Secure good business – meaning you will not only establish an initial relationship, but you will set clear expectations on what is being delivered and how it creates clear present or future strategic value to Retail Insight.
  • Build pipeline, developing your own winning approach and contributing opinions and content into our ABM campaigns.
  • Provide accurate reporting on sales forecasts and activities in your territory through our CRM system to demonstrate the impact you are having.

We are looking for people who

  • Bring at least 5 years’ experience in selling business applications into the retail sector, with some specific grocery sector experience – ideally in analytics or front-end applications (e.g. merchandising, supply chain or store operations).
  • Business savvy with a demonstrable understanding of how to use technology to solve retailer business challenges and building business cases. 
  • Creative and smart about sales opportunities with an ability to analyze opportunities, set strategies and execute to win good business.
  • High energy and great work ethic, driven by success and a desire to win.
  • Comfortable building relationships at all levels of an organization, talking to the right people to make a difference in an account.
  • Want to work as part of a winning team, interested in selling with customer centricity and high integrity.
