Role overview

As the Lead Engineer, you will be working as part of the data engineering team supporting and developing innovative data processing pipelines and mentoring and directing the team as well as working closely with the wider global Engineering team. You will work closely with the Head of Engineering, Project Management, and Client to ensure requirements are delivered on time and on spec.

In this role, you’ll get to

  • Captain the Australian squad, a cross-functional team of engineers, and ensure delivery is supported through effective on-shore and off-shore resource management.
  • Ensure that clear direction is given to the team on project deliveries.
  • Work to specific objectives that require a level of operational planning skill with little direct supervision.
  • Research and trial technologies and techniques as directed and delegate to the team when necessary.
  • Work closely with the client, analytics team, and client delivery team to deliver requirements.
  • Deliver the next iteration of our data solutions from capture to use cases.
  • Take an active role in architecture and design for our solutions across all disciplines.
  • Work on technology design and automation to improve efficiencies.
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities and tackle them without being told to do so.
  • Ensure security is at the core of our work.
  • Identify, mentor, and build talent and capability within the team.
  • Work with the leadership team and assist in the hiring, onboarding, coaching, and development of the team providing mentorship to junior engineers, and other related people processes.
  • Ensure deep collaboration and exchange of ideas, and provide guidance to the technical and non-technical teams.
  • Build and support cloud-native technologies to build and run scalable, manageable, and resilient applications.
  • Ensure operational availability & success of our existing solutions.
  • Liaise with clients on aspects of design, implementation, and ways of working.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, provide regular information on updates, delivery, and fixes.
  • Carry out any ad-hoc duties, as requested by management from time to time.

  • Are able to communicate clearly and professionally internally and with clients.
  • Have a culture of ownership from refining the problem through to delivery and operations.
  • Are able to write maintainable, testable code, and coach others to do the same.
  • Can demonstrate broad engineering exposure and be comfortable talking about UI, service, and data engineering aspects.
